That is a real classification with real consequences: the equipment must be listed for R-32, your recovery and charging equipment must be rated for A2L service, and storage quantities and siting are subject to their own rules. It is not interchangeable with A1 refrigerants on a job site.

No. Although the operating pressures are broadly comparable, the equipment has to be listed for a mildly flammable refrigerant — which R-410A equipment is not. Use R-32 only in systems designed for it.

No. It is a single-component refrigerant rather than a blend, so there is no glide and no risk of fractionation. Superheat and subcooling are read directly from a single saturation temperature, which makes it simpler to charge than the blends it competes with. See R-410A, R-32 and R-454B compared.

Several manufacturers selected R-32 rather than R-454B as their A2L route, most visibly in ductless and VRF equipment. Check the nameplate — an A2L system is charged with whichever of the two its manufacturer specified, and the two are not interchangeable.
