Our smallest R-410A cylinder, built for a single top-off or a recharge after a leak repair rather than a full system fill. It’s the size to keep in the truck when a job only needs a few pounds and carrying a full 25 lb jug isn’t worth it. Confirm the equipment was designed or converted for R-410A before charging — it runs on POE oil at higher pressure than R-22 and isn’t a drop-in substitute.

Compatibility, lubricant and handling questions technicians ask about R-410A
Can R-410A be put into an R-22 system?
No. R-410A operates at substantially higher pressure than R-22 and requires POE lubricant, so the compressor, metering device and often the line set are not rated for it. Converting an R-22 system to R-410A means replacing equipment, not changing the charge. What lubricant does R-410A use?
POE (polyolester) oil. It is hygroscopic, so it absorbs moisture from the air quickly once a system or container is opened — keep the system evacuated properly and do not leave POE exposed longer than necessary.
Is R-410A being phased out?
It is being phased down rather than banned. New residential and light commercial equipment has largely moved to the A2L refrigerants R-454B and R-32, but R-410A remains legal to buy and use for servicing the millions of systems already installed. Expect availability to tighten and pricing to move as the HFC phasedown progresses.
Should R-410A be charged as a liquid or a vapour?
As a liquid, out of an inverted cylinder or through a metering device. It is a near-azeotropic blend, so charging vapour risks drawing the components off at different rates and shifting the composition of what is left in the cylinder.
