No, and this is the most common misunderstanding about it. R-407C matches R-22’s properties more closely than any of the common alternatives, but it requires POE lubricant — so the system has to be converted off mineral oil first. That makes it a planned job rather than a quick swap. If you need to avoid the oil change, look at R-421A, R-422D, R-427A or R-438A instead.

Enough to change how you read the system. The refrigerant boils and condenses across a temperature range rather than at a single point, so superheat must be calculated from the dew point and subcooling from the bubble point. No. Because of the glide, drawing vapour changes the composition of what is left in the cylinder. Charge as a liquid, and if a system needs topping up after a leak it is usually better practice to recover and recharge than to add to an unknown composition.
